OUR MISSION

Georgia Tech Conference Services is dedicated to supporting educational conferences, camps, and programs by forging strategic partnerships with campus facilities and service providers to exceed expectations and generate revenue. We excel as the primary coordinator of campus resources, ensuring efficiency and quality for our diverse range of conference attendees. We foster community outreach and enhance the experience of Georgia Tech’s students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Meet The Professional Staff

John Nussear

Position: Director of Conference Services

John started his career as an Event & Conference Manager at Towson University. He has been with Georgia Tech Conference Services since 2005, and previously held roles of Conference Coordinator and Conference & E-Business Manager. John has also been an active member of the Association of Collegiate Conference & Event Directors – International (ACCED-I), holding multiple leadership positions. John has a passion for the event and conference industry and enjoys guiding teams toward success.

Eric George

Position: Assistant Director of Conference Services

Eric, the Assistant Director of Conference Services, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for creating memorable experiences to our department. Having lived in diverse communities, including serving as a Resident Advisor at a boarding school in South Korea, Eric understands the importance of fostering strong connections.

With a work background in camps, conferences, and retreat centers, Eric has held various roles, showcasing his dedication and versatility. From custodial/guest service duties to Assistant Director, he excels in ensuring the seamless execution of events. His proactive problem-solving skills shine through in the planning process, guaranteeing that camps, conferences, and events run smoothly from setup to cleanup.

Eric is devoted to building quality relationships, emphasizing trust and collaboration to enhance the overall experience for all participants here at GT!

Melissa Scott

Position: Program & Operations Manager

 

Melissa is a master of crafting connections, designs, and processes that challenge conventional norms and inspire. With a decade and a half of experience in the nonprofit sector and collaborations with global brands like TED, Melissa brings a unique perspective to her work.

Melissa is a west coast native and did her undergrad studies in organizational leadership, at Arizona State University, where she discovered her passion for creativity and systems thinking. Melissa enjoys navigating the complex terrain of human interaction with finesse and precision. Her enigmatic approach to problem-solving sparks innovation and disrupts the status quo.

In her free time Melissa dabbles in watercolors and poetry. She resides in Georgia with her husband and three young visionaries, where she continues to push boundaries and cultivate change.

Geneen Jackson

Position: Conference & Guest Housing Program Manager

 

Geneen Jackson joined Georgia Tech’s Department of Housing in April 2005 as an Administrative Professional for Residence Life.  In her tenure as an Administrative Professional, she supervised student staff, managed the administrative processes and keys for a community of more than 3,000 students, as well as planned and developed many successful events for professional and student staff of Residence Life. In 2014, Geneen accepted a dual role between Residence Life and Conference Services that allowed her to expand her oversight and share her passion for coordination, customer service, organization, and communication. In her role with Conference Services, she specialized in coordinating groups staying in the North Ave Complex.  In 2018, Geneen fully joined Conference Services as a full-time Conference Coordinator, where she continues to coordinate groups staying in the North Ave Complex, as well as other groups across campus. She is professionally affiliated with ACCED-I.

Jordan Baxter

Position: Business Development Manager

 

Jordan Baxter is the Business Development Manager for Conference Services as well as with the Georgia Tech Student and Campus Event Centers. Jordan started as a Conference Assistant with Conference Services in 2019 when he was a student. He stayed on staff in the summer of 2021 as a Residential Accommodations student manager. In December of 2021, Jordan received his degree from Georgia Tech in biology with a certificate in integrative biology. After graduation, Jordan joined the Conference Services team as a temp in the Business Operations Specialist role before being promoted full-time to the Business Development Manager role. Jordan is responsible for processing prospective clients, showing clients around campus, and recruiting, onboarding, & training student staff, and managing the unit’s standard operating procedures. Jordan is professionally affiliated with ACCED-I.

Jennifer B. Watson

Position: Manager, Conference Programs

 

Jennifer brings almost 30 years of experience in Residence Life and Conference Services to her current position. Positions at Texas A&M University (TAMU), Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Eckerd College, and Saint Leo University have provided a breadth of knowledge & experience. Originally from New York State, Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and Graphic Arts at RIT and later completed a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration at TAMU. On the Georgia Tech campus, she is very active with the Staff Council Health & Well Being committee and the Event Coordinators’ Network. She also serves as an advisor to the Women’s Leadership Conference committee. Jennifer’s professional affiliations include ACCED-I, MPI, and ACVB.
